Custom-Made Quilts
Are you interested in designing a quilt for a special someone? Custom quilts begin with a consultation where we discuss what type of quilt you are looking for and the likes and dislikes for the quilt recipient. The consultations can be done over the phone or via Face-time. I have a range of patterns that you may choose from and fabrics can be chosen once the design and feel of the quilt has been determined. Once you commit to having a custom quilt made, a non-refundable $250.00 deposit is required to begin the quilt making process. Please know that a custom quilt order takes a couple of months to make, as it can take time for special order fabrics to arrive. You will be consulted at each step. Due to the size of my sewing machine, the largest size quilt I can make is an 80”X 80”.
Steps to ordering a quilt:
1. Have a consultation about the desired pattern and overall look and feel of the quilt.
2. I will pull fabrics that you can choose from and we will have another consultation for your input.
3. A $250.00 non-refundable depost is required for the quilt making to begin.
4. Your approved fabrics are cut and the blocks are made.
5. Once the quilt blocks are made, I will send you pictures of possible layouts and you can let me know which one you like best or suggest changes.
6. The quilt backing is then chosen and the quilting will begin. The level of quilting you chose, will impact the price. Custom quilting design work takes more time than straight line quilting or an all-over quilting design.
7. Once the quilt is all done, arrangements for shipping or pick-up will be made. If the quilt is being shipped, I take the package to the post office to be weighed and know the exact cost to ship. I will bill you for the total quilt cost and shipping, less the deposit. Once I have received payment, the quilt will be mailed.
